Synopsis
Because of his profession, smell of his body and clothes, he is prejudiced and teased by his classmates.
To get rid of the smell and prejudice, he is in search of something and comes across the scent of Kastoori (the musk). To purchase expensive Kastoori, he starts overtime work of manual scavenging and post mortem, though he dislikes that profession. He purchases kastoori but he realizes that it is fake one and gets frustrated which leads to his fight with seller of Kastoori.
Further, on republic day he is not able to reach his school to receive his much coveted district level award in Sanskrit, as he has to unwillingly carry out post mortem at the time of prize distribution ceremony.
Because of all these events and guidance by a social worker, he internalizes and realizes that he doesn't need Kastoori or any other scent to remove others’ prejudice towards him. He was chasing Kastoori, which he found within himself. Thus he starts his journey from material world to the "self" discovery.
