Shoukie and his dog Kheru spend a night in their village home, which probably is their last. The village has already been abandoned for the last two years due to coal mining. Earlier that day, Shoukie has been served the final eviction notice from the mining company. Sensing an imminent defeat, an illogical thought stems within him that his dog would die that night. That his dog would not die in an alien land, salvages some pride for him. The night passes with this thought, hunger and nostalgia.
